Also, it fits with the theme of Jade always being the odd one out; in this case, not being killed by Jack (directly) at any point.

I doubt it. John was in on the plan the last time/first time he spoke to Karkat and he was pop flyin'. He'd never be okay with Jade dying as part of any plan. Especially with no dreamself to resurrect.
