My laptop is shutting down on me more often now. Before it only happened if I played a game from Steam but now it also happens when I have it unplugged for too long. Even with a cooling base it still gets extremely hot, to the point where when I smelled the bottom of my laptop, I definitely smelled ...

For the monitor I use a damp paper towel and gently clean it. Don't press too hard and make sure the towel isn't dripping wet
